Frequently Asked Questions

Note: We're still in the "alpha" stage. Features and design are likely to change without notice.

Q. Why is this merit based? What does that mean?

A. The placement of your posts isn't determined by community consensus; it's based on how well you can answer simple questions about history, politics, world events, art, and science.

Q. Who writes the questions? Are they hard?

A. We have a small team that writes several new questions every day. There are no tricks here. Anyone who has a decent education, is well read, and reads reputable news sources will have no problem. Questions are designed so on average 50% of people get them correct.

Q. How about comments to postings? Are they ranked as well?

A. Currently, comments appear in chronological order. Comments from users with higher rankings than you will display with a mortarboard icon. Comments with users with lower rankings will display with a dunce cap icon.
