Baytzim is a meritocracy , not a democracy. Unlike other news discussion sites where mobs rule, at Baytzim, individuals are ranked on their own merits. Free yourself from the tyranny of the majority. If you want to waste your time reading the rantings of idiots, then you'd probably be happier at digg.com . The rest of you, read on.

Whenever you make a new post or comment, you may be asked to answer a question. These are straightforward questions--no tricks--about geography, history, music, art, literature, math, and science.

Here is a typical question:

Your ranking, and the placement of your posts and comments, depend on how well you answer these question. Ranking increases for correct answers, and is penalized for incorrect ones. Questions left unanswered get less of a penalty than wrong answers. Questions are written so they're hard to google for an answer, but aren't meant to trick or decieve.

We're also plutocratic: you can buy your ranking up, or you can buy other users' rankings down. Prices to change your rank have a base component depending on your current position and how far you want to move, and an auction component. (The payment portion of this site will come on line after our beta period has ended.)

Of our few rules, remember this one: we prohibit the discussion of our questions or answers in any of our forums. Anyone caught doing so will have his ranking reset to the lowest ranking on the site.
