California, which claims to be broke, is giving a $10,000 check to anyone who wants it.

These programs are overrun with fraud. The Federal version of this program had an astonishing 50% fraud rate

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=126010317 (quote from IRS that admitted that 50% of people claiming the deduction had "problems" with the claim)
So why does California institute its own version of this? Do they think the fraud rate will be any lower?

Charlie Rose interview with Rahm Emanuel in this week’s Bloomburg Businessweek. This question and answer was interesting.
Rose: Can Obama Turn around the anger of people who think they haven’t been heard?
Emanuel: There are legitimate reasons for the anger out there. The middle class has seen their incomes lost and cost of living go up while those at the top acted with a sense of irresponsibility that led to the economic crisis. Now the hard working middle class is bailing out the economy. Anybody who thinks the anger is just being pumped up just doesn’t get it.

Obama’s State of the Union Speech:
“…That’s why we’re working to lift the value of a family’s single largest investment – their home. The steps we took last year to shore up the housing market have allowed millions of Americans to take out new loans and save an average of $1,500 on mortgage payments….”
Hmm, let me see…take out new loans (HELOC) and low mortage rates. Yes, a quick look into recent history reveals that this is a recipe for economic disaster. I mean is this guy retarded or is he purposely trying to destroy what’s left of the economy? I really don’t know what to think of him.

There is no contradiction. He thinks that modest homes should have market prices out of the reach of people that have historically lived in such homes, and that the government should discriminatorily subsidize the difference. All the extra paper work and administration of such programs will foster job growth. Also, the subsidies can come from raising taxes on those making more than 250k a year which so that wealth can be redistributed to those who are outperformers to those that are not. In his ideal world, there would be over 20% unemployement and the masses would have to look up to the messiah from their knees begging for food and shelter. Allowing people to make money based on perfermance and live debt free without government invervention threatens limits his power. He is not exactly a nice person.

Fox News is reporting:
Officials with the controversial community organizing group ACORN were secretly videotaped offering to assist two individuals posing as a pimp and a prostitute, encouraging them to lie to the Internal Revenue Service and providing guidance on how to claim underage girls from South America as dependents.
The videotape was made public Thursday on BigGovernment.com , a political blog launched by Andrew Breitbart as a companion site to his BigHollywood.breitbart.com blog.
